Method
Remove yams and syrup from can. Mash yams in a small bowl using a fork and set aside. Place 1/2 cup of yam syrup into a large mixing bowl. Add milk, sugar and yeast. Stir and let set a couple of minutes. To this, add 3 tablespoons butter, spice, vanilla, salt and sweet potatoes. Stir all ingredients using a spoon. Add flour in 1/4 cup increments until dough pulls together as a ball. Flour a work surface and remove dough from bowl. Gently knead dough with a fold down towards you, push back with heels of your hand, rotate 1/4 turn type motion carefully folding and flipping dough for about 6-8 minutes or until it is smooth and a depressed finger spot springs back. Clean mixing bowl, and grease it with remaining melted butter. Grease top of dough and cover bowl with plastic wrap. Place in a warm spot for 1 1/2 hrs or until it doubles. Remove dough from bowl and place again on a floured surface. Allow to rest while you make glaze and filling. Make glaze and prepare the pan. With a pastry brush grease the inside of a 9-10 inch round or square baking pan using 1 tablespoon of melted butter. For filling, combine pecans, brown sugar and spice in a small bowl. Roll dough out to a 12 X 12 rectangle. Brush dough with melted butter. Spread praline filling evenly across dough. Roll up jellyroll style to end with a 12 inch roll. Slice roll into 12 even pieces. Place in oven, turn oven to 350 degrees and bake 30-35 minutes. The second rise will take place while the oven heats. Remove from oven, cover with a large platter and flip pan over so the sticky side is up. Top buns with mini marshmallows and pecans. Place platter under broiler for 3-5 minutes or until marshmallows are melted. Remove from oven.
