Cherry-Berry Wheat Bread
Dried cherries and blueberries are soaked, drained, and added to a whole wheat bread dough that also contains honey and nonfat dry milk powder.
Ingredients
- Section 1:
- 1/2 cup dried cherries
- 1/4 cup dried blueberries
- 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon flour
- Section 2:
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 2 cups bread flour
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 3 Tablespoons honey
- 2 Tablespoons nonfat dry milk powder
- 2 Tablespoons butter
- 1 1/4 water

Method
Place dried cherries and blueberries in a bowl and cover with warm water. Allow the dried fruit to soak for several minutes. Drain the fruit and mix it with the cinnamon and the tablespoon of flour, set aside. Add all the ingredients from section 2 to the bread machine pan in the order suggested by the manufacturer. Set the machine on the basic/raisin setting, if available, or the basic/white bread setting. For some machines add the dried fruit-cinnamon mixture to the pan at the "beep." For other machines add the dried fruit-cinnamon mixture after the completion of the first mixing.
Notes: The best of the Midwest is baked together in one loaf to enjoy at breakfast or snack time.
