Cinnamon Scones
These traditional scones have sugar, whipping cream, milk and powdered sugar, and are flavored with cinnamon.
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 Tablespoons granulated sugar
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/3 cup butter, cut into pieces
- 1/2 cup whipping cream
- 2 well-beaten eggs
- Milk
- Powdered sugar

In medium mixing bowl combine flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Using a pastry blender, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Make a well in the center of dry mixture. Combine eggs and whipping cream; add to dry ingredients all at once. Using a fork, stir until moistened. Turn dough out onto lightly floured surface. Knead dough by folding and pressing about 10 strokes until dough is nearly smooth. Pat or roll out dough into an 8-inch square. Cut dough into 2-inch squares. Place scones onto lightly greased baking sheet at least a half-inch apart. Brush scones with milk and sprinkle on powdered sugar. Bake in 400 degree oven for 12-14 minutes or until golden. Remove scones from baking sheet and serve warm with jam or butter.
