Famous Chocolate Bread

This bread is great as a dessert with coffee to finish off a great meal.
 

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 25 oz jar unsweetened applesauce
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 4 tbsp cocoa
  • 3/4 tsp cinnamon
  • Chocolate chips

Method

Cream together the butter, sugar and eggs. Add the apple sauce. Then, add the dry ingredients. Mix well and divide into 2 large bread pans. Lightly sprinkle chocolate chips across the top, not too many or they sink to the bottom of the pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour, check center with a toothpick to see if done.
