Hungarain butter horns

Tender rolls that have been curled with a nutty glaze.
 

Ingredients

  • 4 c. flour
  • 1/2 t. salt
  • 1 t. vanilla
  • 1/2 lb. sweet butter
  • 1 cake yeast
  • 1/2 c. sour cream
  • 3 egg yolks
  • Filling:
  • 3 egg whites beaten stiff
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 t. vanilla
  • 4 c. chopped nuts

Method

Sift together flour and salt, crumble butter in flour. Add vanilla, yeast, eggs, sour cream and mix well. Roll up like a sausage in wax paper and chill. Meanwhile, make filling. Divide dough in 8 parts, roll in powdered sugar and cut in 8 pie shape wedges. Spread with 1 t. filling and roll in crescent shape. Bake at 400 for 15 min. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
