These non traditional buiscuts are given a different color and taste by adding red wine.

Method

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. In a wide mouthed bowl add all ingredients and mix by hand until it forms a dough. Place dough on a floured wooden board. Knead dough by hand to incorporate the mixture and set aside. Depending on how big you want to make the biscuit, pull a piece off and place on wooden board, roll back and forth to form a long piece about 3/4" wide and approx 5 1/2" long. Hold the left side of the piece of dough and roll the right side toward you and overlap a little bit and attach the two ends making sure to give a pinch to the dough so it sticks together to make a round biscuit. Place on a greased cookie sheet. Beat egg in separate bowl and brush lightly over wine biscuits (for color). Place in oven for about 15 minutes or until colored, switching half way through from bottom to top and vice versa to permit for even browning.

Notes: You can shape the biscuits any way you want to. The number of biscuits you will get is varied dependent on the size of the biscuits.

Number of Servings: 24-36
