Luscious Baked French Toast with Fresh Berries

This make-ahead breakfast strata has a brown sugar-butter syrup in the bottom of the baking dish, with French bread and an egg-milk mixture poured over.Ingredients
- 2 cups packed brown sugar
- 2 sticks (1 cup) butter
- 1/4 cup white corn syrup
- 8-10 slices French bread
- 6 eggs, beaten
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- Dash salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Cinnamon
- Fresh berries

Method
Combine brown sugar, butter & corn syrup in medium saucepan. Heat until melted and bring to a boil. Pour syrup in a glass 9x13 baking dish. Place bread slices in syrup. Combine eggs, milk, salt & vanilla. Whisk to blend and then pour over bread. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Cover with foil and put in fridge overnight. Bake at 350 degrees, uncovered, until golden brown and bubbly (about 40 min.) Serve topped with fresh berries.
Notes: Time this just right so you can take a walk while it bakes, and open the door to an incredible, inviting aroma!
