Sausage Souffle

Cubes of wheat bread are sprinkled with sausage, and a mixture of cream of mushroom soup, milk, and eggs. Swiss cheese goes on before baking.
 

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf wheat bread, with crusts trimmed off
  • 1 pound bulk sausage
  • 1 pound Swiss cheese, shredded
  • 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 soup can milk
  • 8 eggs

Method

Cut bread into cubes and spread in 13x9" baking dish or pan. Brown sausage, drain and sprinkle on top of bread. Beat eggs; add soup and milk. Blend together. Pour this mixture on top of bread and sausage. Sprinkle shredded Swiss cheese on top. Bake at 350F about 50-60 minutes or until set in the middle.

 

Notes: This is a huge hit for all ages. It's frequently made for special occasions, and the family can't wait!
