Stuffed French Toast Casserole

Lightly sweetened cream cheese is "stuffed" between layers of cubed cinnamon bread and covered with a maple syrup-custard mixture, then baked.
Ingredients
- 1/2 loaf cinnamon raisin bread
- AND 1/2 loaf cinnamon pecan bread, cut into cubes and mixed together
- 12 oz whipped cream cheese
- 1/8 cup (2 Tbsp.) powdered sugar
- 10 eggs, beaten
- 1 1/2 cup half and half or light cream
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 8 tbsp (1/2 cup) butter, melted
- Syrup or Fruit Sauce (as desired)

Layer half of the bread cubes in a buttered 9x13" baking dish. Mix whipped cream cheese with powdered sugar. Spoon mixture over bread cubes in baking dish. Cover with remaining bread cubes. Mix eggs, half and half, maple syrup and butter. Pour mixture over bread cubes in baking dish. Cover dish with plastic wrap. Gently press down on top of dish to help liquid absorb into bread, then refrigerate overnight. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-50 minutes. Cut into squares to serve. Drizzle with syrup, or a fruit sauce of your choice.
Notes: My oldest son begged me to keep the recipe to myself and make it only for the family.
